About Barbara

Barbara’s very first yoga class was with some colleague-friends in the late 1980s at the start of her corporate career. She was completely intimidated by the chanting of OM, so she filled the room with nervous laughter. She did not return to a yoga class for many, many years, but about 10 years ago, started taking yoga classes regularly. It was more opportunistically than anything, at first, because she got a ‘free’ trial class. At this trial class, she felt an immediate shift in both her mind and body, although she probably would not have described it that way then. She felt something, and was hooked. It took some time to get used to, but Barbara slowly started understanding more about yoga, and found the connection between a pose and her breath. And overtime, as with all things, with a regular weekly practice, she began to feel more and more connected and eventually found her way to complete a 200 hours teacher training program. This connection eventually evolved further and she has recently completed her next level (300 hours) teacher training.

Yoga is her steady friend these days.  When she is not practicing or teaching yoga, she is working with clients on organizational and people development related topics as a business and personal coach. Off the mat she loves to spend time with family and friends, travel, bike and do anything related to art and creativity. A former runner, she has retired her sneakers (at least for now) and spends more time on the mat!

About Mia

Mia found yoga initially for the physical benefit, helping her in marathon training and exercise routines. It eventually became a much deeper and more spiritual practice, giving her ways to understand more about her body, her self, the world around her. Yoga has played an instrumental role in Mia’s personal journey of healing, and continues to give her more ways to accept her mind, body, and soul as they are. Mia’s intention is to provide a space, to guide, and to empower others through the healing practice of yoga, so that they may uncover their most authentic self and live in a way that feels true to their mind, body, and soul. Off the mat, Mia loves to travel, read, be outside in nature, write, and spend time with the people she loves. More often than not, though, you’ll find her upside down in a headstand.
